VOLUNTEER
Volunteer Opportunities

Tutor:
Time commitment — 30-60 minutes per week
Requirements — Must be 21 or older, pass a complete background check, have previous tutoring or teaching experience, maintain appropriate boundaries with the children, commit to consistent visits, attend a volunteer orientation
Description — Help a child with assigned schoolwork, homework, complete teacher-assigned workbooks to aid in understanding a particular subject. It's important to know that most kids in our program are two to three grades behind when they arrive, some have learning disabilities, and some have trouble concentrating.

Group Volunteers:
Time commitment — 1-2 hours per month
Requirements — Must be 21 or older, pass a background check, maintain appropriate boundaries with the children, attend a volunteer orientation, plan and implement activities with assigned group of children
Description — Having groups of adults visit our kids helps them build social skills and exposes them to new experiences. Groups plan age-appropriate activities that allow each child's participation, creativity is encouraged. A group leader should check with Hillside staff for activity approval before the visit. General guidelines will be provided at orientation.

Special Events Volunteer:
Time commitment — As needed, 2-6 hours depending on the event and task assignment
Requirements — Must be 18 or older
Description — Hillside plans several fundraising and other events throughout the year. Special event volunteers are needed to assist with event planning, guest registration, event set-up and break-down, assist guests during the event, etc.
